If you are an Ithaca-area kid or teen who loves to sing protest songs, gospel music, spirituals, and other soulful music, then DCYS might be perfect for you!

All interested singers must audition. To sign up to audition, click the button:

During the audition, we will assess your ability to match pitch by playing and singing scales and patterns for you to sing back. Sight-reading ability is not required. You may also be asked to sing a short song, which we will teach you in the audition. You do not need to prepare anything for the audition.

Auditions will be scheduled on an individual basis.

Rehearsals

DCYS rehearses once per week, Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30pm at Boynton Middle School. Students do not need to be enrolled at Boynton or another ICSD school to participate. All are welcome to audition!

Cost: FREE

Once admitted, all singers will participate in DCYS completely free of cost. We are generously supported by community foundations and private donors who believe in the transformative power of this important music.
